The Youth Head Coach leads the HMB Youth Teams Program, a subdivision of HMB Programs Department. In this position, you'll coach our teams of athletes, develop training plans, refine curriculum, manage assistant coaches, ensure athlete safety, coordinate competitions, and communicate with parents to foster growth in technique, strength, and mental resilience within a positive, inclusive environment.

Work load
Part-time, minimum 16 hours instruction and administration.
Possibility of reaching full-time with additional responsibilities.

Pay-rate
: $23-$26 DOE
Must-have Availability:
Weekday afternoons and evenings (starting at 4 PM)

Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Development
* Create and implement seasonal/session training curricula for various skill levels.
* Set goals for individual climbers and the team, focusing on skill, physical, and mental development.
* Lead and mentor other coaches, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to policies.
*Develop and implement new youth programs and classes under Program Manager's advising
Coaching & Athlete Support
* Provide direct coaching, offering constructive feedback on technique, movement, and tactics.
* Develop personalized training plans and track athlete progress.
* Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive culture that promotes teamwork and a love for climbing.
Safety & Risk Management
* Uphold strict safety protocols and act as staff lead for incidents.
* Ensure compliance with organizational, USAC, and SafeSport guidelines.
Logistics & Administration
* Coordinate competition schedules, travel, and participation in local, regional, and national events.
* Manage team registration, communication, and administrative tasks.
* Prepare program performance analyses. Manage program budget in collaboration with the Programs Manager.
Communication & Community
*Attend weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings with the Programs Manager and/or Leadership.
*Report program status, needs, and development plans to the Programs Manager.
*Report and coordinate development plans in collaboration with other departments, such as: routesetting, marketing, customer support, etc.
*Maintain professional, clear communication with, managers, coaches, athletes and parents about progress, events, and expectations.
* Represent the organization and build relationships with the climbing community.

Essential Skills
*Excellent communication and organizational skills.
*Expert knowledge of climbing techniques, training principles, and safety standards.
*Ability to coach and motivate a diverse range of ages and abilities.
*Self-motivation, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications
*Proven experience in coaching competitive climbing, with a strong understanding of climbing techniques, training methodologies, and athlete development.
* Previous experience in leading youth sports programs, with a preference for climbing-specific experience.
*Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple classes, coaches, and events simultaneously.

Certifications
*USAC Level 2 Coach, First Aid/CPR, and SafeSport.
*Certifications must be acquired by March 2026. HMB will facilitate the training if necessary.

HMB Climbing Instructors empower students to become lifelong climbers and critical thinkers by building confidence, strengthening problem-solving skills, and fostering a welcoming environment.

Work load: part time, minimum one scheduled shift per month
Pay-rate
: $21.5/hour
Must-have Availability

* Weekday afternoons and evenings (starting at 4 PM)

* Weekend mornings and afternoons
Classes we would consider you for
* Day Camps on school-free weekdays
* Climbing After Class, weekday afternoons/evenings
* Weekend Rockers, weekend mornings

Student and Family Oriented
* Create a safe and engaging atmosphere for students and their families 
* Act as a role model for students and the community
* Describe and demonstrate climbing techniques
* Engage with students and tailor instruction to their needs
* Encourage students to participate in various climbing related activities and to adopt a mindset of growth and exploration
* Patiently deal with challenging behaviors and scenarios, while maintaining a mature, solution-oriented attitude
* Focus on problem solving
* Be consistent and on time for your shifts and ready to interact positively with students and families
* Facilitate communication between families and HMB departments
Internal Organization and Communication
* Be consistent and on time communicating with managers for scheduling and other work related tasks
* Improve performance by incorporating feedback from superiors and colleagues into the work routine
* Give feedback on the program’s strengths and needs 
* Identify and report potential streamlining of processes to managers and other departments

Requirements
* At least 1 year climbing experience, knowledge and technical expertise
* Experience in an instructional setting or with childcare
* Availability to work weekday afternoons and evenings, weekend mornings and afternoons
* Maintain at least 1 class per week (at least 1 class/month if hired as a substitute)
* Availability to fill shifts as needed
* Positive attitude
* CPR/AED/First Aid certification, preferred, not required

Yoga Instructor Sub

Updated January 2026, starting immediately
Work load: PT,  starting at 1.5h (one class/month) 
Must have availability: at least two weeknights and one Sat or Sun availability to sub for classes on our schedule
Pay-rate: $25/h

What’s the heart of this role?
Our community! You’ll teach in a tight-knit community of climbers, many of whom understand climbing as “yoga on the vertical” for the mindfulness and physical presence it requires. Here at HMB, you’ll be able to guide the practice of fairly cohesive groups of students. The small studio (max 10 students) caters mainly to our members, so you’ll get to know your audience, get their input directly, and have a significant impact on their wellbeing. If you’re looking for a place where community matters, you’re warmly welcome here!

Responsibilities
*Maintain at least one class on the monthly schedule;
*Lead exciting, challenging, alignment-based sequences that are inclusive and welcoming to attendees of all abilities;
*Tailor classes to meet the needs of HMB’s climbing community;
*Maintain the studio’s cleanliness, organize the studio at the end of each class, and lead by example instilling in students a culture of responsibility;
*Communicate in a timely manner with HMB Team Members on class and program-related matters, such as: attendance, no-show students, equipment and studio needs, scheduling and subbing, program development, etc.
*Notify the manager two weeks in advance of any class that must be missed, and actively find a sub for any such classes;
*Maintain HMB training standards, as requiredAttend quarterly team meetings (in person)
*Help promote HMB’s yoga program to HMB guests and the larger community by working with our Marketing, Social Media, and Welcome Desk Teams with input on creating yoga tailored messaging and promotional assets for the community.

Requirements
*Available to work weekday evenings, and/or weekends;
*RYT-200 Yoga Certification, or a minimum 1 year professional teaching experience in a paid capacity
*Ability to work independently and self-motivated
*A desire to be part of our community and spend time at the gym, learning about and participating in our other programs

Preferred, not required:
*1st Aid/CPR Certification, climbing experience
